ChiNa-venTure
*yawn* so sleepy....
think i didnt slept well since i came back from china.
the flight got delayed in xiamen, and we reached singapore after 10pm.
got back to work early the next morning,
last nite send my grandmother to clinic then to hospital, got home after 1am...
this morning went straight to ITE college east to meet my colleague....
zzzzzzz.....weekend is here.....thank u sooo much....
china trip was fruitful cos i finally:-
1) witness the dirty toilets in the villages,
2) stepped into my own 'hometown' -- teochew
3) witness farm life
4) made new china frens
5) experienced a 'dog-extortion' exciting and dangerous adventure,
6) bought 50over CDS/DVDs
7) went for foot massage....
8) bathe in a toilet that has not enuf water supply.... (haha)
9) AND FINALLY!!!....I GOT TO WITNESS REAL FIRECRACKERS!! =)
heh heh, firecrackers was really fun! it was so loud and it created a very cheerful atmosphere...xiao wei (driver) tied the firecrackers to his van and lighted it while he drove the van in hakka village....hahaha....a hyperactive and playful 26yrs old driver cum tour guide....
chen-long, our main tour guide is a young 24yrs old fresh grad from xiamen university. Over the past 7 days, we got along like frens and even went to xiao wei's hse to see how his family and him lead their lives in china.....all i can say is, i feel so lucky that im a singaporean....
we met a rude and rough village man on our way out of the hakka village in yong-ding. He insisted that we knocked his dog and demanded for compensation. something worth mentioning, after we accidentally hit the dog in the village, we continue our journey as xiao wei has saw that the dog is still moving, and we are not the main culprit, the truth is the car next to us hit the dog, the dog flew to our direction and got hit a 2nd time by our van. The village man tot we hit the dog, chase us with his car for 45mins. finally he caught up with us along a dark and deserted road. The first thing that he did was to snatch xiao wei's car keys! omigod, we are instantly stranded. All of us in the car are afraid that more villagers will come, what if it turned into a robbery? all our luggages are in the car. What if our driver got hit unconscious? how are we suppose to leave that place? Nobody dare to utter any sound unneccsarrily at that moment. Finally, when the police did not come after sometime, uncle decided to give in and handed REN500 (abt S$100) to the rude man. That's wea we got back our keys and drove back to the city. phew....
toilet was terrible on our way to the villages. no doors, no drainage system, no flush, no paper. All we could see is a open long narrow drain with blood, urine and shit all over it.....omigod....that was really gross.....doreen and i gathered all the courage we had for the past 20 over yrs and ran into the toilet, finish our business and flew out of the toilet. hahaha, indeed, it was gross and disgusting....but it was really a good experience...hahaha
i think the best food i had there is in swatow (teochew) and hokkien (xiamen). Although it was oily and saltish, it was considered the best compared to hakka...heh heh....the yam paste in teochew was fantastic!! =) yum yum....
shopping was exciting and fabulous in china too, although not as good as compared to shanghai....heh heh....still it was cheap-cheap-cheap....
=) =) =)
