Dinner @ MOF @ Budd's expense

Monday, June 23, 2008

"Wedding bells are ringing, wedding bells are ringing!!"
She's getting married, and I am buying her a gift...to keep to our promise, I will buy her a pair of earrings, to signify that we are each other's listening ears.
And WHEN-else is a better time to buy the gift? GSS lar! hee....
Dinner comes first, lucky she was there to queue up for seats prior to my arrival.
MOF - her treat. hee...

Miso soup char siew ramen. - tasted good, but the ramen doesn't look like ramen, more like chinese yellow noodles.

Soup base was good enuf for me to keep sipping it. Not very expensive, i think its abt $8.80

stone rice with unagi and a plate of seafood hotplate with tori karrage.

the rice is awesome!

Rounded the dinner with mango ice-cream. Yum Yum....

be a citizen, and get their discount! Budd hijacked errr.....somebody's card to save her pocket... haha...

luckily the fussy her managed to settled for THE pair of earrings from Lee Hwa that nite! & I thought she would need time to think and consider which pair she wanna own. haha....

chop chop....nice pair! somewhat similar to mine, now everytime she wear this, she will rem me. lol

went for drinks at haji lane -- Going OM.

Quite a cosy and rustic place, cosy for we took the sofa seats at the upper level, and rustic becos the upper level wasn't really furnished, only gentle painting and a gigantic picture (cloth-based) of a buddha by the wall for decor. The rest of the tables are low and customers have to sit on the floor. The waiters are very friendly and introduced me an exotic drink that I can't rem how he described it, all I can recall was some concoction of kiwi and yogurt and donno wat stuff, came out to be really really good for me! very thirst quenching! Budd had cranberry juice, and livingstone who joined us at this point ordered the latte. The entire order only cost us $14. very reasonable.

and so, that's the exterior of the cafe. I guess they offer see-sha too..... :)

By the time we ended the nite, budd looks more tired than me... lol
1 bride-to-be, 1 parent-to-be, wat an interesting combi, now my bb has to be educated to stay in the tummy till really full term, so that I can attend her god-mommy's wedding...pray hard.

Blk 844 again

we said we will go for the Shanghai Fried Rice at blk 844, so many pple raved over it, how can we not try it?

comes with pork floss, generous servings of prawns, ham, crispy hei-bee, crabsticks, meat , egg and bean sprout. The taste is good! (to be honest, even better than the marriott hotel fried rice!)

$10 for small serving. enuf for 2 big eaters, or 3 small eaters. I like the concoction.

we also ordered the sweet and sour pork. small serving, strong taste of ketup, not bad.

As we were eating, we saw many tables flooded with 'oh-looked-so-good-dishes', we'll definitely be back to try the menu again!

When Alex was back in Singapore in Feb, he passed us vouchers from "LIFEBaby", he said it was meant to encourage us to make babies... =)

So, when we know the bb gender on Monday, we decided to head down to the store, to get BB a gift ... from Unker Alex (who is in Canada now).

heh heh... cute or not?

With the voucher, we are also able to get a bean-pillow for BB!

Love the color! Comes with another pillow case.

Gift for BB from Unker Daniel & Aunty Judy

Livingstone and I have something similar when we were young too....
This gift is from Unker Daniel and Aunty Judy for our bb (in my tummy).
The melody: Rock a bye baby
Thank you sooooo much! :)
Our bb feels pampered....

After some discussions wif Livingstone, we realise that we were holding the same pattern of toy when we were young! only different color, mine was orange, while his was red. Its the same plastic bird with pull-string melody, and movable wings and eyes..... hahaha...

wat a coincident?

19 week : The detailed scan

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

We anticipated this scan, like a little girl anticipating for her daddy and mommy to bring her to the macdonalds.... heh heh...
It's fast, 19wks...im halfway thru my 2nd trimester.
Had the detailed scan scheduled at TMC. 30 mins waiting time, 30mins of ultrasound scanning.
I have to tell you it is such a wonderful experience!
The radiographer oriented us right away when we entered the room, 'mother pls put ur bag here, husband you can sit here...'
So, as i was lying there, she squeezed the gel on my tummy, and with a friendly smile, she told us that today we will be seeing alot of things....
the journey begins....
there were so many things to scan for:
-biparietal diameter
-head circumference
-transcerebellar diameter
-cistern magna
-nasal bone
-nuchal fold thickness
-abdominal circumference
-femur length
-humerus
-est fetal weight
-heart action
-fetal movements
-amniotic fluid
-placenta
-brain
-nose/lips
-spine
-neck and skin
-chest
-four chamber view and outflow tracts of the heart
-kidneys and bladder
-skeleton
-hands, fingers, feet and toes

The medical jargons must have bored you. haha....
As the radiographer scanned for the items, she keep saying "ok, good, the measurement is good, bb is fine...growing well....HEY, look! bb is sucking thumb!!"
haha....its so farnie....we really witness her sucking her thumb, the movement of the mouth and the thumb, its so really cute!
then, as the radiographer is ready to search for bb's feet, bb grabbed one of her feet and refused to release it.... haha....not even when we shake my tummy....naughty naughty....
then, when she is ready to scanned her lips, our bb covered the mouth with her hands....haha....
must beat buttock issit?
this foto doesn't do justice, bcos u can't tell the movement.... :)

Radiographer finished off with saying, 'ur bb is on the chubby side'....yeah!!! all my rojak food pays off! haha...

the entire scan cost $127, with $4 parking fee.
Oh yes!! it's confirm, its a GIRL! =)

Kim Gary at Vivocity

My 2nd visit to Kim Gary. It didnt disappoint us.

Pork Chop with Shanghai Fried rice with vegetables -nice.

haha, i suppose i shld have contrasted the curry baked chicken instead of the white rice.

i chose this, which is the curry baked rice with pineapple curry sauce. I can still taste the combination of curry and cheese in my mouth, and I am salivating....its yummilicious.
The tender chicken gives it an awesome chewing sensation ooosh! shiok!!!

Blk 844 Tampines St 82

The search for good kopitiam food continues....
I asked livingstone to bring me to Blk 844 tampines st 82. No regret.
Malacca YTF at $3 for 9 items, plus noodles. To be very honest, I dun take dry YTF noodles, becos i dun like the sweet sauce. Im not sure what got into me, I ordered dry this time!
And I was surprised with the color of the noodles! look at it, not yellow!

my mind was twirling, is it gonna taste like duck noodles? hokkien mee? or wat???

I was feeling so excited! i kid u not. i toss the noodles over and over agn, and the excitement (abt the taste that im going to introduce to my taste bud) is overwhelming!
haha....true enuf, the malacca noodles (i havent been to malacca btw) is my kind. and the soup is very plesant. I went back twice in a row to have the same noodles. =)

Another item that i wanted to shout out loud abt, is this big bao. look at the size against a standard char siew bao.
Its call JB handmade bao. In the same kopitiam.
I happily opened the box at my in law's hse, wanting to put my teeth into it. Then, my FIL came along and said he is hungry, before I knew it, he hijacked the entire bao. half goes to him, and the other half goes to beckie. :(
hai.....so i can't tell how good it is. Anyway, it has to be good, cos the following day he called and asked wea i bought the bao....

Fathers' Day dinner at Wan Hao (Mariott Hotel)

MIL's choice.... :)

1st dish is complimentary bcos i told the pple at Wan Hao that we are celebrating Fathers' Day.

It was quite weird, there is no lazy suzy on our table, so the person serving our room had to divide the big dish into individual portions for us.... hmm....something that I m not very keen with. first of all, we can't appreciate the presentation of the dish, and then we don't get to choose wat we want to eat, and there is no interaction. Just plain eating. But....anyway....

Wan Hao Combination Platter
Lobster Salad, Smoked Duck Breast with Mango, Spare Ribs coated with Orange Liqueur and Almond Seeds, Deep-fried Silver Fish with Spicy Pepper and Salt, Jelly Fish - Nice.

Sautéed Scallop with Seasonal Vegetables served in a Vietnamese Rice Basket, follow by Braised Superior Shark’s Fin Broth with Crabmeat and Conpoy served in a claypot, but i skipped that (cos of mercury content)....

Braised South African Abalone with Ling Zhi Mushroom served in Chef’s Special Recipe Broth

3 men and a baby dish? haha....

Steamed Spotted Garoupa with Light Soya Sauce - i dun like the sauce....

Stir-fried Chicken Fillet with Garlic, Spring Onions, Port Wine and Black Bean served in stone pot

Wok-fried Rice with Conpoy, Diced Duck Meat, Chinese Sausage, Barbecued Honey-Glazed Pork, Salted Egg Yolk and Tomato - Something too special, that I can't figure out what is the main taste. All taste mixed together, quite messy taste i tot....

Cold Lemongrass Jelly topped with Red Wine Crushed Ice served in whole Dragon Fruit - This is indeed very very unique. I love the presentation! I didn't realise the dragonfruit can be eaten in this manner! Something so simple isn't it! Having said that, I didnt try the fruit, becos it is topped with red wine. It becomes a forbidden fruit for me.... :(

Edgar's First Birthday

Thursday, June 12, 2008

Edgar is turning one next month, we decided to buy him an early birthday present.

The unwrapping process....look at his smile... :)

there he is continue to tear the wrapper.....he probably doesn't know what the objective is all about. how come when he tears the newspapers and story books, mommy scold, but that nite, we cheer him to tear, yet not one of us scolded him....haha....im sure we got him confused.

While we were posing for a foto with him and the gift, he turned back and stared... :)

The Stride to Ride Walker from Fisherprice rewards baby with lights, sounds and high-energy music. When toddlers are ready to ride, just move the Walker's legs together and lock in place for form a comfortable seat.

The objective is of cos to stimulate him to learn to walk. :)
Who knows, like his daddy, he'll be able to walk on his own on his birthday party? :)

Dinner at home

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

BB is coming, I got to brush up my culinary skills.... heh heh
Does that give me a good excuse to feed Livingstone like a guinea pig? :)
Today, we eat nutritious food....steamed fish....

and this, 菜心 with meat. something that my mom always cook when we were young, and I rem I can finish the entire bowl alone with rice. =)

Realised that we have abalone at home, so there it goes into our chicken soup (need to brush up my skills on chicken soup).

so, the entire meal is complete, with fish, vege and soup. My perfect combination. =)

Livingstone has something up his sleeves when I see him scooping the rice on his plate and pushing them here and there....

haha, so cute...

so creative....

Al Forno East Coast

A few weeks ago, I read from a forum, that Al Forno will be moving soon (bcos they have to make way for private development). Anyway, it became a trigger point that we should revisit this restaurant again, before its gone (that is if the rumour is true...)

This is one pizza that I really liked ever since I had it in Italy,Venice. Since then, everytime I go for pizza, I order the Calzone. :) Will try and make my own at home soon....

that's the rich filling inside. $23.

honestly it isn't as nice as what I reminisce, so it was just ok.
Livingstone had cravings for tortellini. Not many restaurants served good ones in Singapore, so we are still searching for the perfect dish. This is not to our likings too. We tasted better ones in foreign countries. This dish is $22.

The plus point of this dinner is really the decor and ambience. I liked the ceiling. It transports me back to europe instantly... :) Not flushed, no false ceilings, just curved like originals.....

Well, so much for an italian dinner at Al Forno, the service is good and prompt, but the food didnt impress us this time.

my breakfast

Monday, June 09, 2008

Ever since I am pregnant, i need heavy breakfast. Livingstone has been very nice driving me around everyday early in the morning to satisfy me and my bb's appetite. =)
So far no cravings, but I will think of my menu earlier so that we dun hv to be in a spot.
have been going to bedok reservoir hawker centre most of the mornings, cos they sell soya bean milk there, which can quench my morning thirst!!
And this, I have to mention:

Ipoh Hor Fun from "Chen Jia", one of the stalls that sells chicken rice and chicken curry noodle.
For $2, a plate like this is heaven to me!! and its yummy!
