Lunar 9th of September

Tuesday, October 31, 2006

I met livingstone after work to go to parkway parade.
wanted to drop by Howard's Storage to see if we can get any storage ideas there...
aniwae, the barangs there are really too expensive to bring home.
so, see will do.

while on our way back home,
we slowly realise that there was a traffic jam in front of us, just a turn away to our house...
oooooh...
i noe.
it was lunar 9th of sept la. Mom told us before.
"The Festival of the Nine Emperor Gods is one of the most exotic folk festivals in Singapore, and yet one that is hardly publicised and known even to most Singaporeans."

even though we had milk and chicken breast in the car boot that requires a temp below 0degrees celsius.
but we dun care.
we wanna kaypoh and park our car like a parking idiot, and join in the fun.... heh heh...

there were already one stretch of vehicles parked along the double yellow line on the road,
and pple started creating another stretch of carpark space jus next to those alrd parked.. so we jus followed and parked alongside,
typically, this is what we call, Monkey see Monkey do. hee...
pray to God, hopefully fatimah dun give summon.

we joined the crowd at 10.30pm.
and the whole thing ends at like 11.40pm.
first we see buses coming after buses unloading believers carrying 3 huge lighted joss sticks,
then we slowly there were some flower-cars, like those of what we see during the early chingay parades,
then, there were dragon and lion dance, very very long dragon and very big lion. hee...
i hear pple calling it the lion king.
then there were 9 GODs walking past. very cute.

it reminded us of those japan festive parades we saw during our trip there.
interesting.

the grand finale is when everything assembled at the same place, the altars arrived.
and they started to unload the paper-dragon-boat down into the grassy banks of Sungei Serangoon, a river winding like a dragon towards South China Sea., and then setting fire to it.
this signifies that they have sent the nine emperor gods back after its annual birthday bash on earth.

view the video for the procession...watch out for the 9 emperors....

interesting?

record breaking...

and did i mention that i had a record breaking diarrhoea session of 18th times in a single day?
that was 26oct 06'
i had to remember this date...
horrible...

i had to ask the girls to come to my hse instead of our agreed meetup at fish & Co.
we can't cancel the appt, cos christine will be flying away pretty soon.
and so, i had to use my eyes to eat the pizza, while they use their mouth.
for the whole day, i only had 2 servings of porridge...
arghhhhhhh....
horrible.

doctor gave me 2 days of MC, and instructed me to stay away from dairy products and oily food.
nah...
how to????
we live in singapore.
for the next day, i baked the leftover pizza and happily munch away.
the next moment, i ran to the toilet agn, for the 19th time....

aniwae,
that really didnt stop me...
hee...

i remembered having chili food, oily food and fried food....hee...
well, like they say, use the posion to poison the poison la.
that is if u noe what i meant. hee....

first day of sch?

Thursday, October 26, 2006

i couldn't really sleep last nite,
like a little child getting ready for her 1st day in school.
except, this child has expired for pri/sec/poly, and it is not jan or july now.
afraid that i will miss my alarm clock,
i keep waking up to check the time and the color of the sky.
the last check was 4.30am.

terrible. i was sleeping so soundly for the past few nites...

aniwae, i jumped up from the bed when my alarm rang at 6.35am.
weird, the sky is alrd so bright.
it looks like i have not been waking up this early to recognise the color of the sky at this timing anymore.
i used to wake up only at 7.15am.
and will dilly-dally and leave the hse only at 8.20am.

today, i had to time myself while i shower,
i have to leave the hse by 7.30am.
jus when i was ready to go, i had to have the urge to lao-sai..... eeeeeeeeeeek.
too nervous??

It caught me by surprise that there are so many passengers boarding the NEL train early in the morning, .. hmm...like i say, its been a while since i last experienced the morning rush.
everybody on board listens to something or reads the paper.
i have my ipod now! (thanks to livingstone!) so i blend in pretty well. heh heh...

ipod

it took me abt 40mins of train ride from my new place to redhill station.
and another 12mins to walk to my office.
i reached office jus nice. 8.30am
1st mission accomplished!

the subsequent day activities is rushing to the toilet for more lao sai!!
shit....
if this carries on, im gonna be on MC tml.
arghhhhhh....
(how am i gonna enjoy fish and Co. tonite!!????)

but i count my blessings today:
1) i have my ipod
2) i wake up on time and reach office on time
3) i have straight train to my office
4) i have my morning excercise by walking to office from redhill station

hee hee...

2359.... the End.

Wednesday, October 25, 2006

my leave will end at 2359 today...
be going back to work...reluctantly.
i noe work is piling up for me,
but somehow i have not recollect my feelings or motivation to go back to office.

distance is not a problem for me,
im use to travelling.
i study in temasek poly in my younger days, and i stayed at commonwealth,
u can imagine how i travel and transfer from train to bus, from bus to train..
so, honestly, im use to it.
the thing abt staying at my new place now is, the location is rather straighforward.
i dun hv to transfer bus,
when i reached the mrt station, that's it, it will be jus another walking distance of 5mins, a mere 450m to my new hse.
i travel from my place to dhobby ghaut tonite, and i took 20mins.
so far so good.

but....i jus realised i have the weakest point ...
i can't say goodbye to my mom...
i will tear ...

i missed home, and i missed her.
i missed my neighbourhood and i do hope we dun hv to grow up.
i missed the time when my mom hold my hand tight, refuse to let go, afraid that i'll run away from her, fell down, or get knocked by oncoming traffic...while i always try to break free...
ha....
its the childhood era....

i settled very well in my new hse,
but....it only happens when i say goodbye to her...

muffin day...

its the last day at home,
will be starting work tml.
so... this is a breakfast at home....

beakfast
both of us like to have buns with butter and strawberry jam...

yum yum...
i had hot chocolate, and livingstone had his usual dosage of kopi.

and i decided to utilise my new lovely oven boy today.
be making chocolate muffins.
my sista has helped to buy ingredients for me last nite,
so this is the day...

first, the mixture....
mixture
wah biang, i siff the brown sugar for an hour....
sweat....

finally, muffin babies getting ready to go in for sauna...
baking boys

then,
in the oven

and then...DONE.
hot

i haven't try the muffins, but i think its gonna be abit bitter like what my sista expected...
aniwae, i had a good try. =)

Just can't get enuf...

im still reminiscing the place...
so more fotos....

p/s: after all, there's nothing more relaxing then waking up late, having breakfast right outside the room or on the bed, surf net, shower, and getting ready to laze around the beach then surf net, then lunch, then laze again and surf net again then had dinner, then sleep early.... hmm...

room

breakfast
every nite, we will be asked what breakfast we will like.
then we placed the order, and decide where we want to have it,
it can be at the cafe, by the poolside, outside the room, or on the bed.
well...we tried all! haha...
