Tones of Pink

Lunar 9th of September

I met livingstone after work to go to parkway parade.
wanted to drop by Howard's Storage to see if we can get any storage ideas there...
aniwae, the barangs there are really too expensive to bring home.
so, see will do.

while on our way back home,
we slowly realise that there was a traffic jam in front of us, just a turn away to our house...
oooooh...
i noe.
it was lunar 9th of sept la. Mom told us before.
"The Festival of the Nine Emperor Gods is one of the most exotic folk festivals in Singapore, and yet one that is hardly publicised and known even to most Singaporeans."

even though we had milk and chicken breast in the car boot that requires a temp below 0degrees celsius.
but we dun care.
we wanna kaypoh and park our car like a parking idiot, and join in the fun.... heh heh...

there were already one stretch of vehicles parked along the double yellow line on the road,
and pple started creating another stretch of carpark space jus next to those alrd parked.. so we jus followed and parked alongside,
typically, this is what we call, Monkey see Monkey do. hee...
pray to God, hopefully fatimah dun give summon.

we joined the crowd at 10.30pm.
and the whole thing ends at like 11.40pm.
first we see buses coming after buses unloading believers carrying 3 huge lighted joss sticks,
then we slowly there were some flower-cars, like those of what we see during the early chingay parades,
then, there were dragon and lion dance, very very long dragon and very big lion. hee...
i hear pple calling it the lion king.
then there were 9 GODs walking past. very cute.

it reminded us of those japan festive parades we saw during our trip there.
interesting.

the grand finale is when everything assembled at the same place, the altars arrived.
and they started to unload the paper-dragon-boat down into the grassy banks of Sungei Serangoon, a river winding like a dragon towards South China Sea., and then setting fire to it.
this signifies that they have sent the nine emperor gods back after its annual birthday bash on earth.

view the video for the procession...watch out for the 9 emperors....

interesting?
