bbTara's 1st Semi Solid Meal...

The day has arrived. Much anticipated...another of her milestone. =)
Saturday, 2nd of May..

We decided to mill our own type of semi solid for her.

And after some discussion with the PD as well as experienced frens/blogger, we arrived at organic brown rice for a start. That equates to no instant cereal mixture for our bb.
Not that I boycott the instant cereals, but the fact that I am a SAHM, means I shld make myself useful....
and, after reading the ingredients on the cereal tin, it affirmed our decision (the manufacturer included palm oil, corn starch for god knows wat reason!?)
Thanks to a singaporean fren who stayed across the border, he bought us the first pack of organic brown rice which his son is also taking. =)
The method is pretty simple:
1) wash the brown rice thoroughly,
2) pan fry the washed brown rice until dry
3) mill the rice in a miller until powder form
4) store powder in fridge

To cook, I inherited ryan boy's mini slow cooker, and according to the consistency i want to feed bbtara with, I scoop the powder into the cooker, and add cooked water accordingly. I started off with slow cooking the rice powder for 1hr. When I am ready to feed, I scoop the porridge out and mix with bbtara's milk.

bbtara ready for her 1st meal....

her first semi solid feed...

thanks to my sista who was also around, we had an extra pair of hands, to take video
haha

she was rather cooperative for the first session.

had to change a bib cos the first one got messy!

That concludes the first meal, it took us 45mins, with my sista and ryan boy using toys and music to distract her so that I can feed her in a 'tidy' manner, heh heh...
looking forward, I have alrd been feeding her daily for the past 1 wk. now, it takes her abt 25-30mins to finish her porridge, a new schedule is fitting in nicely....Thank God!
