Big Ben (Dong Dong Dong)
The hunt for good food continues!
"Big Ben Place" is on my list since donkey years ago, i kid u not.
OK, enuf explaination, that nite, I decided to check out the map and be right there for ... their chicken pies.
The first impression of the shop was cosy and out of Singapore. With not many tables occupied in that weekday evening, we found ourselves comfortably seated by the windows.
The premise was also decorated with half-timbered theme.
Our order took a long while to come, and the in-charge came to apologise and told us to give them more time, cos I ordered beef stew... =)
so, livingstone was playing with the camera, my face, and our baby while waiting.
finally!!!! one sight of this, and it really reminds me of the beef stew I had in Budapest!! except that was veal they offered, while I do not know what beef this is.
NVM abt that, cos this dish is awsome! livingstone especially loved the mashed potato. With crunchy bits of carrots, eggs and the potato, it really adds a unique texture to the simple side.
We came for the chicken pie rem? here, we ordered the chicken and mushroom, with chips. This set cost $5.50.
did u notice the little hen on top of the chicken pie?? that was a cute detail. =)
the taste of the crust is indeed light and buttery. Not oily, and we really enjoyed it when we coupled it with the fillings! i don't rem we tried any chicken pie when we were in london, so i can't tell if it is authentic. Anyway, who cares if its authentic or not? I care for the taste now. haha...
The interior of the shop:
At abt 8pm, pple started streaming into the place for dinner, many came to packet their pies.
You can tell how secluded this place is for its so dark !! I can't even take a proper picture.
No doubt about it! We are going back for more pies and main dish. =)
