Warsaw Continue

To be really really honest, we are not a huge fan for travelling in winter.
We did it this time, bcos its the only time wea we can go for our longest vacation....so, that explains. =)

In this kind of super freaking cold weather, we are constantly looking for comfort food.
I complained, 'how come they dun sell soup on the street in such a weather, only sell loti...argggh...' the only hot stuff we can find on the streets are hot tea or hot cappucino.
But it turned cold in our hands too quickly to comfort us. =(

Had our breakfast in '
To Lubie', a small and cosy cafe in Warsaw, further down our apartment.
Ordered 2 baskets of warm buns at 11zl each that comes with savoury fillings.

this is the common bun the locals eat daily. The cafe bought it from the supermarket, but re-toast it, it can sound farnie, but the buns they have there are very different from wat we have here. Our local bread taste good bcos of the accompanied filling, but over in europe, they have buns that are even good on its own! I kid u not. I noe nicole is complaining now, bcos she told me she find it too tough, which I agree too. But its tough on the outside, soft on the inside. hur hur hur...

and we had three kinds of savoury fillings:
- egg and ham paste
- cottage cheese with fresh herbs (livingstone's fav)
- tuna fish, olives and cream cheese paste (my fav)

My hot chocolate with mint, sounds weird yah? it was practically melting min chocolate into beverage, serious! thick, and nice! The picture just doesn't do justice to it.

Before we left, I had to have a picture taken with the staff - a handsome and young chap. Again, the photo doesn't do him justice. heh heh, anyway, we were all looking so messy!
To note, Polish men are handsome and the women are really pretty!

This is the entrance to wea we stayed:

Climbed up 11 storeys to the Taras Widokwowy viewing terrace for a bird's eye view of the old town.

Im on top of the world!!
Those green, peach, orange and red houses in the old town does cheer up the pple parading on the street don't they?
This old town has been included on Unesco's World Heritage List.

Livingstone self potrait.

Cute dumplings 'statue' outside one of the restaurant depicting their local food.

This mall has a nice roof isn't it? so unique.

Proceeded to the train station to get our tickets to Krakow for the next day. Guide books always warn tourists not to stay in the train stations for too long. So, we were always very careful, afterall u dono who are the bad.

Hard Rock Cafe, is nearby to the Palace of Culture and Science.
Now, that building has a very interesting history, if you would like to hear abt:
This giant eyesore (to the Poles), is an apocalyptic pc of Stalinesque architecture. This 'gift of friendship' from the Soviet Union was built in the early 1950s.
This gift from Stalin was said to be an option of either a metro system, or the palace. The people wanted a metro, so Stalin gave them the palace. Arghhh...
that explains why it is an eyesore to the locals.
An old joke held that the best views of Warsaw were available only from this building bcos it was the only place in the city from where the building could not be seen. haha...

View from the 30th floor, at 114metres with a panoramic view of the city.

Downstairs very happening lo, ice-skating in the city centre, out in the open, jin steady. =)

Colorful gloves on sale on the street.

Since we are staying in an apartment, we decided to make full use of the facilities!

Cooked our own dinner that nite, mushroom spag!

(We are not insane hor, hur hur hur)

And after dinner, we decided to brave the weather, and go out for photo-takings, heh heh

*shiver* very cold.....

Got to top up our fuel again! Head down to the dumpling shop again, and we had a large mix of dumplings served with lard mix with meat, bacon and mushrooms. And the 'flavours' of the dumplings:
- meat
- meat, cabbage and mushrooms (my fav)
- mushrooms with cheese
- potato with spinach
- lentils, borderland style

Total damage is 19.90zl for 11 pieces.
Yum, Yum. =)

And for those who like to shop in Warsaw, you have to visit the Terranova Outlet in Noey Swiat. Fabulous bargains! =)
