Ryan turns 6!

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

My dearest nephew turns 6.
unbelievable, feels like i was carrying him as an infant jus last yr....
further more, he had alrd got himself enrolled in primary school, going for orientation somemore.
what a truth to digest.

I asked him what he want for his birthday, and he asked for watches.

I told him to leave the selection of cartoons to me...
so i got him his fav BEN Ten and transformers watches...
got him delighted!

met up with ah ma to celebrate his birthday at vivo's earl swensens (that place sucks, esp the menu).
it was mooncake festival that day, so there was part two to the eventful day.... :)

LAVA ROCK (dun rox)

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Location: Hougang Ave 8

We drove past the coffeeshop, and saw a huge banner with a catchy stall name. So, there we were on of those eat-out nights...

warning: They hv a complicated menu IMO. We are spoilt for choices but at the same time VERY CONFUSED. I ended up telling livingstone 'anything lar'

mushroom soup - awwwwwright, this didnt disappoint me. Nice, the bowl was emptied. This is obviously not campbell soup.

livingstone's chicken chop. Awright, nothing fantastic except for the presentation considering we are at a coffeeshop.

My steak:

I am no fan of hotplate, the awful smell that sticks to my clothe is something I disliked! But, the staff highly recommended this, and I thought I shall comply and give it a try.
When the staff key in my order, he asked 'would u like to add $1 for seasoning?'
I was totally puzzled...
and I asked what was the difference.
He explained that it will taste better with the seasoning.
Awright, now, the stubborn me insisted on trying the original. So, I opted out of the $1 seasoning.
The serving came nice and proper. Appetising too.
The steak was served as per my request. Nothing to complain abt.
However, the taste...was too original.
He was right, I shld have opted in for the $1 seasoning.
What I think they shld consider is, put that as a compulsary serving and charge the $1 accordingly.
Now, they lost me. bcos I was turned off by the 'season-less' steak.

lava rock doesnt rox.

but pple are still queuing....

Manpuku @ Tampines1

Saturday, June 20, 2009

At the back of my mind, I noe we should visit this place to have our own feel (after hearing some say this place serves gd food, has gd concept, while some say not worth the money)
So, on a Thursday evening, I talked livingstone into having our dinner there.

not bad, but didnt leave an impression.

...............I dunno wat to say....
It looks appetising ya? and most of the dining tables had a serving of this.
livingstone and I were anticipating for this dish with high expectations....prove to be wrong.
arghhh.....now the taste of this dish came back to me jus by looking at this pic.... almost sent me to the toilet throwing up now as i type. I KID U NOT.
awful!
(to make matters seem worse, we actually struggled to finish this dish)

this.....cold, tasteless. only the chicken cutlet is passable.
if there is no ketchup, I would hv throw this dish into the bin.
AWFUL agn.
(oh yes, livingstone commented that century sq's food court served better omu rice!)

ok, of cos I couldn't miss the much raved abt fruit tart.
ordered this pc of strawberry and choc tart and paid $1 for a cuppa earl grey.
Didnt leave a lasting impression for me either, the tart contains mostly of whipped cream.
Though I shld say that the sweetness was actually just nice. But it didnt compensate for the price I paid ($7.80 for this slice). I guess I was expecting a much better tart.

All in all, the damage for that evening was $35. I didnt scream at that price tag, but we were very sure that this will be our LAST visit.
As for the environment, it was messy and cramp to us. Imagine snaking pass the passageway with bowls of hot ramen soup or hotplates and with children walking fast around you....I see that as a potential hazard....

and Thank GOD! we didnt have to q up to go in.
anw, some bloggers mention that the restaurant had gone bananas after the japanese chef left the locals on their own while having trained them for a mth....

and, for a consolation, bbtara was quietly sleeping in her stroller while we enjoy swallow our food.

Another eatery which proves Shodoku is still a better choice for food and environement with the same concept.

Dad's Birthday cum Mothers' Day Dinner

Sunday, May 24, 2009

U will definitely say Im crazy if I tell you we went back to LiBai(Sheraton Towers Hotel) for dinner right after my MIL's dinner the previous nite. Yes, u heard it right. And, no, it is not because the food is extremely tasty for me to keep going back....the truth is, we im lazy to source for another restaurant.... Besides, my sister went thru the menu and gave me the nod....hee...

To make it special for my dad, I requested the restaurant to give me a unique longevity bun set...so this is what they produced. neat.

there are 4 more mini longevity buns hidden inside the giant bun...This is my dad's 60th birthday cum mothers' day celebration. =)

I didnt snap any food pictures after this first dish...heh heh...too bz entertaining my dotter...

bbTara who obediently sits in her high chair...

hand in hand with gor gor ryan...

then....i realised something, my dad is 60th, ryan boi is 6yrs old, and bbtara is 6mths old....666! heh heh...

honestly, the food is not worth the damage incurred ($848) this nite. But, heck care do we? all that matter was a family sitting down together to have a dinner.....besides my dad is 60th-it's a celebration!
Happy Birthday Dad! May u have many many happy returns!! =D

To Marche at Vivocity

Monday, February 16, 2009

I missed Marche's rosti....so that morning, during bbTara's first feed for the day (6am), I was busy planning the itenary for the day.
And then, when livingstone woke up to pee at 7am, I announced in excitement to him that we will be going to Marche....as if I can excite him with the news, he went back to lala land after nodding his head.

There I was, getting bz to order the food that we, or rather I desire, while livingstone helped to feed his bbtara.

the rosti is still as good.

we ordered two pasta, one is obviously salmon, while the other was mushroom and chicken.

Livingstone had the weirdest comment for his pasta, 'it tasted like laksa'
and, both pasta were really diluted. Fail.

The squid....originally my must-have in marche too. it failed me this time TOO.

was crunchy on the first bite, but subsequently, we find the squid too chewy. I had no idea wat went wrong....The total damage, with another two bottles of root beer was $62.
Very disappointing. Shokudo is a much better choice for the same concept now.

After which, we arranged to pop by adoh's hse to bai nian.

the parents were delighted to see bbtara, and complaint that we reached too late....ya, we were really late, by the time we reached their hse, it was 9pm. hee....
next time, next time.... =)

Visitor at Changi Airport T3

Thursday, September 04, 2008

Had a very gd chance to visit Changi Airport Terminal 3 (since we have not travelled via T3 yet, heh heh....)
Was there for work purpose. So after the business discussion, we roam around the dutyfree and check out what new facilities they have.

this is indeed very impressive. You get a actual theatre setup at this movie theatre! Screening real movies. I think next time i will check in 5 hrs before my flight schedule. hahaha....

There is a butterfly garden. Honestly, this is the first time I got so close to these butterflies....and surprisingly, i wasn't afraid. =p

There was also a man made waterfall. Nice.

I took many fotos of those butterflies...guess i was impressed and fasinated with the setup....i mean....afterall, this is just an airport, isn't it?

Guess what's this? there is actually a showcase of actual breeding of butterfllies!

yesh! right inside this showcase! i am once again impressed. =)

Butterflies eating pollen?

These butterflies here are eating pineapples....

The viewing gallery.....

Mad abt F1? That's the simulation kit.

He is trying to be mad with F1, nah.....we are not into that la....he stood up 10seconds later.... haha...

that's the departure dutyfree area....

heh heh, thanks to this pass.....

So, we decided to settle our dinner here. And I planned for Popeyes.
Ever since I had it in Dubai a few years back, I have been thinking of it. Was delighted that they arrived in S'pore. However, I was disappointed with the food.

the standard could not be compared to the one I had in the UAE.

the mashed potato was lousy. Dry. I suppose KFC has better ones.

Over here, they dun serve mashed chick peas....I missed that.... =(

Globetrotters

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Have you been to globetrotters (united square)?

I've been there twice. The place did not convinced me for a 2nd visit, i went there becos i was given a $25 voucher, and coincidentally, we happen to be there. So, i decided to utilise it.
There should be nothing I shld complain abt, since the meal is considered free. However, when I am served with yucky food, it means I have to waste my calories!!!

Look, we ordered two english fish and chips, we thought the chance for the selected dish to go wrong will be quite slim, since it is a popular and common dish. U either say I am too stupid or I am too kind. The fish sucks. First of all, the kitchen only prepared 1 set of fish and chips, while i was half way eating it, I realise how long we have been waiting for the other set. So, I summon the waitress to come to our table and asked her, which she then found out that the kitchen had forgotten the order. arghhhh....
the fish is tasteless. Totally awful. I almost puke after I forced myself to swallow the entire set. There are no pictures here to show, becos I think picture of food doesnt justify how awful it tasted. So i shouldn't waste my time on it.

I fedback to the waitress abt the quality of the food, she apologised and gave me a further 10% discount on our total bill. Though I only ended up paying like $4 for the meal (for the drink we ordered), but it gave me yet another bad experience in the restaurant. I am not going back there ever again.

I agree with two hands that the place is designed for families, where they can leave their children in the play area while they dine to their heart's content (only if the children dun end up fighting). But, for goodness sake, it has to come with good food too! Otherwise, I might as well buy McDonalds and eat at a playground!
