Location: Hougang Ave 8We drove past the coffeeshop, and saw a huge banner with a catchy stall name. So, there we were on of those eat-out nights...warning: They hv a complicated menu IMO. We are spoilt for choices but at the same time VERY CONFUSED. I ended up telling livingstone 'anything lar'
mushroom soup - awwwwwright, this didnt disappoint me. Nice, the bowl was emptied. This is obviously not campbell soup.
livingstone's chicken chop. Awright, nothing fantastic except for the presentation considering we are at a coffeeshop.
My steak:I am no fan of hotplate, the awful smell that sticks to my clothe is something I disliked! But, the staff highly recommended this, and I thought I shall comply and give it a try. When the staff key in my order, he asked 'would u like to add $1 for seasoning?'I was totally puzzled...and I asked what was the difference. He explained that it will taste better with the seasoning.Awright, now, the stubborn me insisted on trying the original. So, I opted out of the $1 seasoning. The serving came nice and proper. Appetising too.The steak was served as per my request. Nothing to complain abt. However, the taste...was too original. He was right, I shld have opted in for the $1 seasoning. What I think they shld consider is, put that as a compulsary serving and charge the $1 accordingly. Now, they lost me. bcos I was turned off by the 'season-less' steak.
lava rock doesnt rox.
but pple are still queuing....Labels: awful food, steak, western food

We only had a short day with them that saturday.Wif working in the morning, then, got to rush to the hospital for antenatal class, at nite, we promised daniel that we'll be there for judy's cut cake session.Bringing them out is a challenge for me every weekend. Need fresh and new places, wea we can explore together, wea ryan boy will not find boring, then need to find a place that will satisfy my mom's taste bud.....tsk tsk tsk....tough job....that day, since we won't be hanging out late, we decided to bring them to hort park.the hottest park in town now... heh heh
Coincidentally, unker and nephew wearing the same pattern of polo tee that day!!that makes them '3-8' hahaha....so cute! (how identical, with specs somemore....)
so long never take picture with ryan boy, that's how he will pose recently.Everytime ryan boy goes to the playground, his 'guardian angel' will be there beside him...thanks to him....
Ryan's guardian angel waiting for him on top, while he backed out and refuse to climbed further up. He told livingstone 'we imagine up there got bees ok? we dun go up'diaoz.....
nice chill out place in the park.
ryan boy hid behind the pillar, wanting to scare my sister as she walked past....haha...
Brought them to botak jones at Depot Road. Ryan kept chanting for fish and chips.See how happy he was as he enjoyed his dinner, and his activity book.
I ordered the cajun chicken burger. I think i am wasting my calories. Although this is not my first time attempting on Botak jones menu, I think I mentioned before, the meal is not worth wasting my calories on. The only good thing i rem abt the dish, is the chicken was cooked jus nice, not tough. the gravy wasn't fantasting, the bread wasn't toasted, the coleslaw is dry and tasted like there's no dressing. I will spare the fries.
The first time I had botak jones was in AMK, that stall tasted better. So, at 7pm, we rushed to collect the birthday cake from awfullychocolate. We ordered the 6" Chocolate Banana cake thru phone, and picked it up at Cluny road branch.
Off to Judy's hse for the surprise session. =)Labels: Birthday, botak jones, quality time, western food

Two years ago, we tried astons at katong. Ever since then, they have many outlets, and we have not revisited them. With the new astons express at tampines (and apparently, i heard there is no queue compared to katong outlet), we headed that direction for dinner.
OK, for ur eyes only, the things we ordered....
cream of mushroom with 2 pcs garlic bread - In our opinion, e blackboard serves better soup.
chicken chop for livingstone - the gravy for the chicken chop was oily. mashed potato tasted instant.
I skipped steak that nite, and had pork chop. the baked potato only came with a chunk of butter, no cheese, no bacon bits. The coleslaw was good. The gravy for the pork chop doesnt look appetising, maybe bcos of the color. But tasted alrite. Meat was lean. I prefer western chow's gravy.Overall, i think since it is a aston express, the standard cannot be compared to the one at katong. So, my expectations wasn't that high afterall. For a hawker centre or coffeeshop western food, i think i will still prefer e-blackboard.Labels: western food

It took us ages to visit this place, maybe it is bcos this is singapore, too many food to find and eat la.... heh heh....we ordered the mushroom soup ($2.80), and it was very nice! you can bite, taste and smell the pleasant smell of those real mushrooms...not like some stalls that practically sells campbell quality soup.
Livingstone ordered the chicken cutlet, and we were impressed with the huge serving of the chicken. It tasted something like KFC. And I teased him that this is the first time he eat western food for so long in a coffeeshop, he said, too big pc.... haha... think it cost $6.90 or $7.90.
I ordered the NZ Sirloin Steak (with mushroom sauce), and had to order super well done, cos pregnant, cannot eat half-cook.
The staff promised me that the steak will be cooked, but not tough, and she kept her promise. =)A pity the steak is a little salty, and the mushroom sauce is too starchy. The greens are too soft. mash potato comes with chunky pc of potatos, was good for me. overall, the steak was ok, i still finished the entire serving. But I probably will give it a miss the next time i patronise the stall agn. $14.90.
Above all, I think this stall is worth visiting, we will be back for their other menu. =)Labels: chicken cutlet, eblackboard, soup, steak, western food

Have you heard of Crazy Ang Mor?Otherwise, you would have definitely heard of Botak Jones. Crazy Ang Mor is yet another stall selling western food in neighbourhood coffeeshops, it is located in Bishan, said to have australian flavour. Except that Crazy Ang Mor serves food not even comparable to Do & Me.1) Fish & Chips: This has got to be the worst Fish & Chips I have tasted, ever! The fish is watery inside. Yucks. And I wonder if they ever marinate it, the fish is tasteless.2) Chicken ChopI can still visualise the awful taste of the gravy in my mouth now. The gravy just tasted blend and brown. Like water, mix with brown coloring. My goodness, never tasted a chicken chop so damn awful before. Don't be fool by the presentation, I wished I had a camera which can record its taste just to show you the ugly truth.
 3) Cheese FriesRyan boy asked for cheese fries, so I asked the lady, and she asked her colleague, then she told me, 'yes, we have cheese fries'.It was not on their menu anyway. This is the end product. Tasted ordinary. Not enuf cheese though. Stingy.
I almost puke at the end of the meal. I am serious. Will never give them a chance again. Expensive, and awful. Can't be worse.
Ryan boy will agree with me, cos he didnt finish his fish & chips either.Labels: western food
