How nice to sit and relax at a restaurant like this, in a weekday afternoon, chatting abt everything that's going on in their lives.
That day, i took the opportunity to meet budd after my gynae visit. pick her up at her office, and off we went to Dempsey Hill, to Jones the Grocer.
The objective, is to celebrate her coming birthday. So, although I am to due anytime, I still hv to find time to celebrate this day with her. =)
yum yum!! I ordered the wagyu burger, and asked for it to be very well done. and it turned out that the beef was indeed very cooked, but not tough at all! yum yum to the taste! thumbs up! ($24.50)
Budd wanted a light lunch, so she ordered the lunch special with just ham and bread ($11.50).
We decided to top up with soup of the day - mushroom soup ($9.50), with heavy olive oil. hmmm....not very nice, it was quite blend, I would prefer dipping my toasted bread into the soup instead of drinking it from the spoon.
And wat is a birthday celebration without cake? So, I got her a pink cupcake.
Happy Birthday Budd, may you be bless with many many happy returns!! And wishes do come true :)Labels: budd, dempsey hill, Lunch, quality time

It's Livingstone's birthday, and i usually celebrate it for him with surprises....and...for a few days... So, this is a birthday celebration in advance. =) this yr as usual, I planned everything, packed the bag, and he would just have to follow me =) First of all, I got him blind folded in the car, while I drove, and he does not know where we were heading....hur hur hur...
*blind-folded still can cut fingernails/skin*As we reached the car park, he heard military commands....he kept asking wea we were and wea we would be heading....haha...Before I tell you what i have in store for him (which will most probably be in my next post), let's settle our lunch first. At marina square..... =)
been passing this restaurant with long queues during dinner hour...so today is a good time, since there is plenty of empty tables.
He ordered the terriyaki chicken bento,
while i had the katsu don bento.... so so only.....not worth mentioning.
He was hungry, and excited for his birthday surprise!
the meal is incomplete without dessert isn't it!? and this restaurant has a menu of dessert more exciting than their main courses!this is premium vanilla ice-cream with hotballs and butter sauce.not bad but the portion is very very small. expect the sweetest sauce at the bottom of the cup.Next, I will proceed to present him his surprise. =)Labels: Birthday, Food, ice-cream, japanese, livingstone, Lunch, Surprise
I like subway, but livingstone dun like. So, when i met budd for lunch the other day, i gave her no other choices, subway we will have, haha...
Terriyaki chicken with parmesan oregano bread toasted....foot long it will be. yum yum....Labels: budd, Lunch, subway

We are in HongKong!!! 买东西,吃东西, 买东西, 吃东西。。。。HK tourism board say wan.... =)So, we did not buy the breakfast from YMCA, and instead, we went to the public restaurants to yum-cha....yummy char-siew-bao! i love to tear the bun open and have the black creamy char siew waving at me...and i must say black, cos i dun like red color type.
Day 2 was generally dedicated to shop for my in law's bedsheet covers.....So we went to TST and causeway bay....had our lunch at this cafe called 'Anytime" - some sort like a HK cafe...
MIL chose the hainanese chicken rice....not sure why, but their chicken skin looks very yellowish...
I had the pork chop baked rice....awful. too sweet.
Livingstone had the angel hair with salmon in creamy sauce.
dessert - HK style goreng pisang with vanilla ice-cream. nice. The nite was reserved for Mr friend agn. We took a cab and went to this man-made island, wea Mr friend lived. His hse overlooked the ocean park (a small part). From the living room, this is his view....at 27th storey....
Had japanese food at the restaurant located at the recreational area of his apartment. Crowded, and I forgot why I didnt take pictures of our dinner.... hee...Labels: dim sum, Dinner, HK, Lunch, Shopping

One fine day, Peggy told me, 'it's been a long time since we last had potluck....' so i goes,.....'great idea, shall we???' and so, with the invitations and conversations done over msn on a sunny afternoon, we decided to put it on the eve of vesak day (well, at least the next day is a holiday). & since it is so near to Vesak Day, we decided that the theme would be 'Chinese Cusine'. & yes, it doesn't matter if we have two pregnant ladies in the group now. We are still as energetic as before. thank god. =)
the early birds at coris (abt 10am):
with dennis (our jamie oliver) arriving next to prepare his dish. Here he is, trying to ask livingstone to be his assistance.
And so, a potluck is a gathering of people where each person is expected to bring a dish of food to be shared among the group isn't it. The menu was decided by each and every individual of us abt 2 wks before the event via email. Here we go:

And I forgot to snap the drinks that ah siang contributed!! haha...

and so, we have quite a spread on the T-shaped table for a total of 12+2 mouths....Felin and Desmond being vegan until Vesak Day have to refrain from touching the sinful food. I tried to make vege-bee-hoon for them, but I guess i failed, cos without being able to add the pig trotters, i dunno how else to fry and make it nice. haha...pai sey....
Before the lunch begins, most of them are bz helping out....
we do have some idle king here, they are actually quite good, cos some contributed eye power lo, haha....kidding la... As we had to wait for dennis's chicken to be steamed, we then sat in groups to chit chat. It was cosy.
 Lunch is ready!!
Look at how cosy kenny and livingstone is .... hahaha
And we have gift from our frens who went overseas again.... heh heh
After lunch, it was chit chat, watch dvd, gossip, raking up the past, eat fruits, and finally leaving for dinner...
Nevermind if Livingstone and I had to clean up the hse after we call it a day. Im blessed that Livingstone is there to help me at this moment now when I can't squat and wipe the floor anymore. He mopped the floor, and it was sparkling clean! He washed and cleaned the pots and pans. What did I do? I forgot, haha....but hey, its a pregnant woman's priviledge now alrite! Not that I meant I will fully utilise it, but Livingstone knows how much I appreciate him, and he noes I still help out too.....hor? =)
It was yet another successful potluck held at Coris, thanks guys for being wonderful cooks and companions! We'll have another one, when the inspiration comes. =)Labels: appreciative, friends, livingstone, Lunch, potluck

Ryan boy is the happiest lo......as my sista had to go back to the office and work on that saturday,i sent her there, and ryan boy followed me and my mom, to United Square.A mall made for kids!from lifesize kiddy rides, to toy 'R' us, to ice-cream parlours, aiyo....he is the happiest lo.
this ride cost us $6.40 for a mere 10 minutes. But it was interesting, he was like on a horse galloping away, only, he chose an elephant instead. =)He spent an hr in Toys 'R' Us, chosing his x'mas present (from livingstone), well, that's what i told him to keep him occupied 'now, go and choose what you want for x'mas, then i go back and tell yee-zhang'...so, he happily walked into the store, and chose for 1 hr.of cos i rejected quite a few la. not like he chose barbie doll or cooking stuff, but they are all cars and robots that he alrd has, well, at least very similar to.so, in the end, he chose a japanese robot, and told me, 'xiao yee, i must buy this today, (stomping his feet), I cannot wait already. I cannot wait anymore, I want to buy today. Cannot wait anymore.....'haha.....I donch noe why, he jus told me that. =)cute hor?ryan boy always has a special liking to gingerbread man, everytime we passes by a pastry shop that sells this, he wants it.
this gingerbread man cute lo, the baker gave him a reproductive system, visibily. =)
Brought my mom and sista to siglap to try this Yong Tau Foo - 福林。

served with dry bee-hoon like this. Very nice.I like.Back at coris, ryan boy showed me his way of sitting comfortably in the beanbag.
haha,....so cute, i feel like giving him a bear hug. =)Labels: Food, kiddy-ride, Lunch, ryan, toys, x'mas
