....accomplished and appreciative.
:)
One afternoon, it suddenly dawn on me that, I shld resume my gym workouts!
You see, bbTara's schedule is kind of fix now.
I noe when she will nap, and roughly for how long. So why not now?
I discussed with livingstone, and Sunday, yesh, Sundays noon will be perfect. Im beaming from ear to ear :)
And who else must I call immediately?!
BUDD! it has to be her!
she's my gym khaki since cows come home....
I can tell she's so delighted too!
Although I can only make it for 1-2 classes and its once per wk only,
but seriously, it helps in our bonding. isn't it budd?
And in perfect timing, we get to go for combat and pump back to back! PERRRRRFect!

So, that sunday, i woke up, feeling anticipated, like a young girl waiting to attend the first day of sch...I did the usual stuff with bbTara, and left her to livingstone after her 2nd feed.
And as I was abt to leave home while she was asleep. She woke up!
arghhhh....dun tell me she noes im going out lo.
By the time I pat her back to lala land, im 25mins away to the start of combat class!
darn it!
and the speed limit of 70km/h in KPE didnt help much!
nevertheless, I squeeze into the class even though i was late for one and a half track.
stood at my usual spot (like wat, one and half yrs ago???) and it was jab and cross ALL THE WAY!
Gosh, I had to admit defeat to my stamina...I was almost half gone when it comes to Muay Thai track....hang on buddy! I have to complete it! but it also meant i would enjoy some bodyache the next day, Guranteed.
But, I knew I can no longer tahan for pump. So, I had to surrender and told budd, next wk.
we proceeded to machine workouts, chit chatting at the same time. wooohooo....how nice.

ok tummy, now i see u, next, u better disappear in your fastest time!

Rushed home after that, cos they were coming to visit....not me, but bbTara. im jealous.

looked like bbTara is the process of recognising faces. She cried (really loud) when jess & veron tried to carry her, even get close to her.....it took us abt 30mins to soothe her, with opium and a nap. Afterwhich, she woke up, and was playing with them, PHEW!

And this lucky baby got new toys! with singing Barney and singing Giraffe, boi, she's pampered!
thanks guys for being generous!!
And I really enjoy the chit chat session we had that afternoon!
DIY hi-tea next time ya! =)

Tuesday, October 09, 2007

Day: 1 bake, 1 steam:

so i decided to make bloody full use of my off day. =)
woke up early and went to hougang to get stuff ready for :
1) banana+walnut+choc chip cake
2) kueh salat
the batter
mix them ALL up for a nice smooth batter!!

ready to bake!

viola!

next, the kuehs

had the glutinous rice steamed with pandan leaves...

the coconut mixture boiling...

and the end produce.
however, i used the wrong pandan juice, and i dun like the pandan taste, so i had the whole plate threw away. no kidding lo.
as u can tell from the picture, i dun even have the heart to cut the glutinous rice properly.... hee...
anyway, it was my good try, i will be doing it again soon. =)

Nite:
As we were making ourselves comfortable in front of the tv, watching our fav 10.30pm show - repeat telecast of <9-layered>, 'ding dong', someone was at the door.
(I had to then run in to change a short, as i was wearing too short a short to welcome any guest, hee...)
Dennis was at the door, with the kah lua i asked him to buy for me at DFS.
when i came out of my room, he goes "ahem, ahem!!"
i shouted, "that's a sign!" haha....and the dream team appeared outside our door singing the birthday song, and with sx holding the birthday cake. =)
(thanks guys!! u guys were so sweet!)
it was late. it was a weekday nite. i so thank you all for the effort.

and omigod, see wat gift they got for me!!

a set of 3kg plates! wea's the bar???

--------------------------------------

Kueh Salat
Bottom layer:

400g glutinous rice
200ml thick coconut milk with 100ml water
2-3 pandan leaves
some blue food colouring (optional)
a pinch of salt

Top layer:
6 eggs
800 ml thick coconut milk
200g rice flour
320g sugar
50 ml pandan juice
some green food colouring
a pinch of salt

Method:
Bottom Layer:

1. Soak glutinous rice for 2-3 hours. Drain.
2. Steam the rice on pandan leaves with a pinch of salt for 15-20 minutes or till tender.
3. Remove from heat and add in coconut milk. Mix well with a wooden chopstick.
4. Then sprinkle some blue food colouring all over the rice (optional).
3. Transfer back to heat and steam for 10 minutes further or till cooked.
4. Lay a banana leaf on the bottom of an 8 inch square tray. Place steamed rice in the tray and press down firmly with a banana leaf on top to compact it.
5. Return to steamer and steam for another 5 minutes.

The bottom layer has to be hot when the top layer is poured on.

Top Layer:
1. Beat eggs in a mixing bowl lightly with a fork. Mix in the rice flour.
2. Cook coconut milk, pandan juice, sugar, salt and green food colouring over low heat. Keep stirring and add in the egg mixture. Stir continuously over low heat, until mixture thickens.
3. Pour the yellow mixture over the steamed glutinous rice in the steamer slowly. Steam for 15-20 minutes or until set
4. Cool the kueh before cutting.

*Note, i didn't have banana leaves, so I used normal grease proof paper instead. works fine.

------------------------------------------------
Banana Bread:

Ingredients:

You will need
500 g riper bananas, mashed up

120 g soft butter
85 g sugar

85 g brown sugar
2 beaten eggs
2 Tbsp condensed milk
220 g self-raising flour
65 g walnuts
70 g chocolate chips

Method:

Set the oven to 180 degrees centigrade

Blend the ingredients
Using your spatula spoon the butter into the mixer bowl, follow with the brown sugar, white sugar, then lower the whisk attachment into the bowl and blend on medium speed for a few minutes. Then slow down the speed and slowly add in the eggs, the mashed bananas, the condensed milk and slowly begin to add the flour, shaking it in little by little then add in the chocolate chips and finally the walnuts.

Then switch off the blender, using your spatula give it one final quick mix by hand.
Transfer to the baking tin
Place the baking tin into the centre of the preheated oven and bake for roughly 55-60 minutes. You can check to see if it's ready by piercing into the centre of the cake with a skewer. It should come out dry and if so, remove from the oven.

*i didnt want it too sweet, so i did not add in the 85g sugar, and only used brown sugar.
taste good too!

Enjoy!! =)

Our first Run + Steamboat Party (9/9/07)

Sunday, September 16, 2007

Our first Run
i tried hard to sleep early,
but the chores kept me bz until 12mn...
So, i had to wake up at 5.30am, and meet rachel at 6.15am at our estate carpark, to go to the run together, and i'll be meeting budd at Marina Square carpark.

anyway, i woke up at 2.30am, to welcome my monthly menses.... arghhhhhh
(i knew it will come on this date.....)
I have another 3 hrs to sleep.... and it also means i have to run with an extra padding....sick.... =(

when i finally woke up, it was 5.45am...
I rx rachel's msg to say she had conjunctivitis, so she won't be joining us.
wasted....left with me and budd.

livingstone left me a note on the table before he went to sleep....

he is so sweet.... =*)

before i pin it on for the run.... =)
this is not a big scale run (5km only....), but the fact that it is my first run,
and it is a strictly women's run, makes me really excited!!!

It was just me and budd, which was really quality time! we enjoyed the first 3km run with our usual chit chat session as we jog, before we run on our own for the rest of the journey.
by the time we reached our last 250m, we were running towards it, together! =)
nah, i don't care what timing i clocked, but i am very happy that i completed my milestone for 2007. =)

it was our first official run afterall.... =)
yeah!
at the carpark, after our run.
we got to rush for our next session (my steamboat party, budd has to go work) after we collected our goodie bag. our result will only be release on the 19th, and i'll be able to download fotos of ourselves in the run from the officials. yeah!
monster
that was budd and her monster in front of me as we headed towards ECP, in opposite direction =)

fondue
eh, very nice leh! !
now i have another item to treat my guests.... =)

from the time i woke up until the time i hit the bed.....
i lost count of how many hours i stayed up.
and how many chores and stuffs i have put my hands in to participate,
i have no complains (except for my extra padding im carrying la), i enjoyed my day very much,
hopefully budd and my family felt the same. =)

Sushi Hour

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

I have been eating many sushi(s) lately,
mainly takwaways.
cheap, convenient, and at least healthier choice then chicken rice, bee hoon....and etc....

U see, I finished my gym at abt 9pm regularly,
and i really didnt want to take any full-size meals.
Livingstone is now picking me up from gym, and we will then go for his dinner.
If i dun takeaway sushi, im gonna end up having the same thing as he ordered.....
sinful.....very sinful.
and the best reason is, when i go to the sushi bar at 9pm, most of the sushi packs are alrd on sale.... hee...hee....
sushi
yum yum.....

Project E + L -- Successful :)

Monday, July 23, 2007

July, we celebrate 2 of them's birthdays.
The challenge is, how do w surprise them? If we celebrate eddie's, then livingstone will definately anticipate for his, and will be on guard for our attack.
However, the idea came with ease..... :)
We shld attack both of them together, on the same day, but,
we'll just seperate it into different sections. *grin*
Livingstone knows abt eddie's attack, so, he will never expect us to prey on him so soon.... heh heh...

we arranged and plotted each other's roles way before hand,
we shall run project E + L on our usual workout Sunday. :)
Felin will come 30mins (with eddie's cake) after the guys started their soccer game.
We then slowly walked to eddie with the cake, lighted, (while he halftime from the game), singing at the top of our voice -- his birthday song, right at the soccer-court. U can imagine eddie's shocked expression!!
haha.....
1
2
right after this celebration, we hv to rush for the 2nd's.... hur hur hur....
so kenny told eddie that we prepared a sabo session for him in kenny's hse, and we have to all go up together. (actually, the 2nd cake is in their hse alrd....)
so, we all walked along.....
3
and as we approached kenny's hse, i discreetly told eddie abt the 2nd attack, heh heh....

'SWEE!' he said.....good, he is ready to attack livingstone now. :)
4
so, the ladies took the 1st lift, and rushed in to prepare the cake for livingstone.

livingstone and the rest took the 2nd lift.
kenny on the other hand, told livingstone to block eddie so as not to let him run away, hahaha...crap lo....the real intention was to distract livingstone and to buy time so that we can prepare for his attack. haha....
4
peggy, waiting to attack livingstone.... :)

As they walked in, we sang aloud the 2nd birthday song,
livingstone sang along, as he thought that it was agn singing for eddie,
(co-incidentally, peggy and felin bought the SAME cake, same size, same flavour, and from the same shop somemore! haha, so co-incidentally created the perfect attack!!)
he didnt realise that the cake that peggy took out was not cut. He still thought it was eddie's b'day cake.
He sang and we sang, and then we said, '....Happy Birthday to Nicholas....Happy Birthday to you...." HE BLUR LO.....haha....suddenly stopped singing and get the correct picture. haha....
5
livingstone is totally caught by surprise!
6
7
the 2, who had their b'day 2 days apart in July.
8
then we presented them their presents, and eddie tries to snatch livingstone's, when he sees that it was a starwars figurine.... haha....
9
we got eddie Valencia's jersey.
10
like recruiting a new soccer player lo....

and livingstone's present....
11
12
the dinner at henderson market...
dinner
thanks to felin who made the card :)
card
recycled from a car sign.....
card
group
the group foto, taken by the road side. :)

Project successful! totally caught them unaware. :)

Livingstone: "Thanks for the surprise. That was really a good one. I really do enjoy myself. Thanks for the lovely gift. Another item to my collection. Xie Xie."

Eddie: I also want to thank q everyone of you. You all got me! And I really like my jersey too!...*some text cut off cos not relevant...hee hee*....Really going to miss you all when i'm in middle east. Love you all! Our Love will survive!!"

girl's party

met up with my family for dinner after tat, heh heh....see that cheeky face...
ryan boy

Livingstone is touching down in Singapore on the same nite, 5am.
so, i tot, i might as well stayed up and go straight to the airport to pick him.

budd throw me a very good idea, 'why dun we go hme and pick up our gear, and then we go east coast for midnight jog, then u can go and pick him after that!'
haha.....i scolded her 'crazy' initially, but seeing how on she is, motivates me. haha....

Instead of going to Amelia's party on sunday, we decided to go on the same nite at abt 1am, haha....
amelia's party

bought amelia an educational toytoy.....

giant wall chart, with velcro pull-out objects, i like like.
mother hen

Eddie joined us for the nite too! We promised him a few games of bowling prior to the midnight jog, :)

Budd and me before the jog.
with budd
We finally started the jog at 3am, for abt 50mins.

east coast never sleeps, no matter what time, the park is still alive with pple bbq-ing, cycling, fishing, chatting,.... but guess we were the only 3 who were jogging...
I rem pple looking at their watches as we jogged past...... heh heh.....
they must hv thought... 'these pple must hv ran out from IMH / Woodbridge....'
we rest for a while before they accompany me to con't my journey to the airport,
it's a beautiful morning! why waste it!
we proceeded for breakfast at bedok! heh heh.....
half-boiled eggs, teh, and bread.... yum yum!!
at 6am
so that was us, who survived the .....hmmm.....almost 24 hrs..... haha... :)

thank you them for keeping me awake!!!

and i was so glad that livingstone is back..... :)
