Will be working on improving it... =) Labels: DIY, pastry, swiss roll A gift for bbTara from Unker Daniel and Aunty JudybbTara, you are blessed.....unker daniel and aunty judy bought u a bbcot.... we hope u like it =) Thanks soooooo much!!! :) Labels: appreciative, bbtara, gift, pregnancy Brewbaker's Kitchen & Bar @ Anchorvale CCIt's a long weekend! How blessed are we! =) We had dinner at this new place at Anchorvale CC - Brewbaker's Kitchen & Bar Then, we realised that they are under the same mgmt as Jack's Place. heh heh... The restaurant is designed for two purposes, one for dining, one for drinking and chilling out. very nice ambience. Guess we were famished by the time we arrived at the restaurant. We ordered quite a number of stuff ..... that's clam chowder and lobster bisque soup and our garlic bread....yum yum we ordered an appetiser platter for two, i think those selections are instant types la, just fried only....but it was ok, pretty nice. =) livingstone chose the slipper lobster with linguine, nice. the white cream sauce came with nice herb taste. I had the chicken and mushroom baked rice...good too. Total damage was $57. I was very satisfied after the dinner....thanks to mabel who told me abt this new place! we'll be back, maybe with bbTara next time. =) Labels: Dinner, discovery, Food, pregnancy, quality time A trip to townI am sure you know I seldom head to town, especially during weekends. Not unless I have stuff to get, or my family needs to go run some errands. With the fact that my right back (butt) hurts now when I walk too much, I didnt even meet up with my family during the weekend. But I had to go SIM LIM to get a transformer/adaptor for my new breastpump that my dear fren, Nicole, helped to lug back for me from the states (Thanks sooooo much Nicole!!!) I got the adaptor for jus $15, so nicole's help saved us SGD$220! YEAH!! Will post the breast pump soon. =) The sky was beautiful when we exited from SIM LIM Tower, can't help but to snap it.... Since we jus had lunch, and we were in town, we decided to head to the new dessert bar at Seventh Heaven. Juuuuuuust in case, bbTara pops, and I can't make more new discovery....haha Located at the old Gan Eng Seng Sec School, it was ulu, but very cosy. Livingstone and me (37 weeks). The shop doesn't accept card or nets, and it so happens that we are cashless that day!!! So, livingstone had to drive out to the ATM, while I decides what to order...BRAVO! he will trust my selections, i know. =) And so, I ordered two items, the above is 3-in-1 espresso ice-cream ($5.80), comes with brandied cherry. I love the biscuit accompanying the ice cream! sad to say, i think my tastebud hasn't been very sensitive to some food(s) ever since I reached the last stage of my preg, I couldn't really taste the strong espresso fragrance. Anyway, i still enjoy the creaminess and the sweet indulgence. And it happened that they are taking this item away from their menu come Nov. =) So, we were considered lucky! This is the brandied cherry. I can't take liquor, so livingstone took it. Then, I also ordered the warm chocolate moist cake with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream ($7.80). We had to wait for 20mins for the cake, but let me tell u this, the wait is worth it! IMO, the sweetness of the cake is juuuuuust nice! As u bite into the moist cake, i can only think of the word 'heaven'....really really nice.... pair it with the vanilla ice cream, lagi best! And since we were in town, we decided to head to vivocity for a movie. Wrong choice of movie, arghhhhhhh watched the comedy by Ben Stiller - Tropic Thunder. Turned out to be the most awful show i had ever watched! Yucks! Lucky I didnt pay $10 to watch the movie, with OCBC credit card, we had $2 off. The show was extremely boring, the first 10mins of the show alrd set me cursing and swearing, and i wanted to walk out....this show was full house for the slot somemore! arghhhh.... waste time. That morning, we decided to make our own at home. So, we bought baguette, cut into slices, and spread some margarine and ham onto it, and topped with lotsa mozarella cheese... (prep time takes prob the most 7mins) Goes into the oven for abt 4-5mins, and we have our own simple breakfast. how nice....next time bbtara can join us, and i can make different patterns for her... =D Labels: breakfast, quality time A treat and a gift from XB + HPOur nice neighbour insisted of giving us a treat! We were at Master Crab at compassvale, and the food was really good IMO. Ordered the spinach, pork ribs, hot plate toufu - which was the only dish that was not so nice.... thai style fried chicken, and fu-pi-juan (deep fried beancurd skin with prawn) - shiok! For four person, the dinner only cost us $43, i found it affordable and satisfying. They came to our hse after dinner, to look at bbTara's nursery and they bought with them a gift!!! omg....how blessed are we?....a dinner and a gift....neighbours, thank u soooo much!!! :) Labels: appreciative, chinese, Dinner, gift, neighbours, quality time Nakhon Kitchen @ KovanThursday, October 23, 2008This is a small shop that serves thai food. I didnt expect to see a queue on a weekday night. So, we queued up and waited for seats. The wait was abt 20mins. When we finally sat down, it was abt 7.30pm. we were so hungry. Livingstone ordered the fanta grape in a glass bottle - $2. Our orders: 1) Tom Yam - Seafood, and we ordered the clear soup type. Somehow, i prefer clear soup, neva like tom yam in orange color. This soup is good to our tastebud. Very strong fragrance. We like. 2) pineapple fried rice - it was ok, fragrant enuf, the only thing i dun like is the texture of the rice. It was probably fried too long, and the rice became a tad too soft. 3) Asparagus with prawns - one of my fav crunchy vege! Nice. Portion is small though. Gd for 2-3 persons only, and there is only one size available. 4) Chicken with cashew nuts - when i saw this, i was exclaiming, i want this i want this!! and I hope it will be cooked the same way as the stalls in thailand does.... but, to my disappointement, it was cooked like sweet and sour pork. It was still nice, but not to my expectations. 5) Minced beef with basil leaves - Not very spicy, was jus nice. Very good with rice. 6) Tapioca with coconut - This is my fav thai dessert. However, I still prefer Joe's the kitchen's. Bcos Joe served it hot and with white sesame, there is this ooomph! factor when u put the tapioca into ur mouth. For this, it tasted just normal. We ordered so much food just for the two of us, but we managed to finish all! Guess we were too hungry! haha...The total damage was $38 (quite exp IMO). We will be back to try their other items on the menu. :) Nakhon Kitchen Blk 212 Hougang Street 21 #01-341 Tel: 62868785 Birthday Lunch at Jones the GrocerWednesday, October 22, 2008How nice to sit and relax at a restaurant like this, in a weekday afternoon, chatting abt everything that's going on in their lives. That day, i took the opportunity to meet budd after my gynae visit. pick her up at her office, and off we went to Dempsey Hill, to Jones the Grocer. The objective, is to celebrate her coming birthday. So, although I am to due anytime, I still hv to find time to celebrate this day with her. =) yum yum!! I ordered the wagyu burger, and asked for it to be very well done. and it turned out that the beef was indeed very cooked, but not tough at all! yum yum to the taste! thumbs up! ($24.50) Budd wanted a light lunch, so she ordered the lunch special with just ham and bread ($11.50). We decided to top up with soup of the day - mushroom soup ($9.50), with heavy olive oil. hmmm....not very nice, it was quite blend, I would prefer dipping my toasted bread into the soup instead of drinking it from the spoon. And wat is a birthday celebration without cake? So, I got her a pink cupcake. Happy Birthday Budd, may you be bless with many many happy returns!! And wishes do come true :) Labels: budd, dempsey hill, Lunch, quality time Confinement Herbs / TonicsTuesday, October 21, 2008Last Sunday, my mom and us went together to Bugis to get thoe stuff needed for my coming confinement....Fiona's MIL recommended me this shop in Bugis - Dragon horse (龙马). Indeed, when we were there, the shop is packed with pple! And they were the largest among the shops there. We didnt really know what to buy, until we tell the lady that it is meant for confinement, then she referred us to 'Ah How'. The friendly Ah How helped explained to us what is necc to take, and recommended us the common quality stuff. Here u go with what I bought: To substitue plain water, confinement woman are advised to take a kind of brewed drink with red dates (红枣),black dates (黑枣),nan-dates (南枣),党参,北芪,龙眼肉 This is dang-gui (当归), for making soup.....I had the pics taken when the stuff is still original, and after it is sliced. This is Bei Qi (北芪)... Another expensive stuff, this is dang-shen (党参), this two packets cost $70. Used to add into soup to clear our residue blood in our womb after birth.... this is pao-shen (泡参) and this is the herbs used for showering (大风艾), I have 30 packets here for my 1 month supply, and it cost us $60. We also bought black fungus, dry scallops and wolfberries for the soup.... Total damage at the shop for that 1 mth's supply was $270, lucky they accept nets. hahaha... Although I am not a big fan of herbal soup, but I do look forward to the stuff soon. Anyway, it will be just 1 mth of heaty food. =) Now, we are almost ready. Labels: confinement, herbal, tonic October Potluck @ Kenny+Peggy's HseThis October's potluck was kindly hosted by Kenny and Peggy (Thanks for opening up the hse for us!!)
